This fantastic looking Fiat 509A 'torpedo' tourer is a fantastic entry in to pre war motoring. First registered in Worcestershire in December 1929, this super little Fiat was owned and campaigned for some time by George Liston-Young, Secretary of the Fiat Register. A letter on file states that it was also driven by Anne Wisdom and Pat Moss (Rally driving sister of Sir Stirling Moss) in a Ladies Trophy, although it is more likely that this would have been a charity event rather than serious competition as by the time they were active in motorsport, this 509A would have been regarded as a 'Vintage' car. Some restoration took place around 1984 when it changed hands and bills on file from Brunts of Silverdale show that the engine was white-metalled in 1987 and the car was put back into service shortly after. There are three old MOTs on file and a copy of the buff logbook. A very interesting and more stylish alternative to Austin 7's and will no doubt prove an excellent future investment.
